Prince Friedrich August married Princess Caroline Wilhelmine Sophie von Hessen-Kassel in 1753. In this context, she moved into her mother-in-law's former flat in the main wing of the palace, which Princess Johanna Elisabeth had renovated between 1749 and 1751 in the style of the Frederician Rococo. The eleven rooms were completely destroyed in 1945.

As part of the major project implemented between 2020 and 2022, the shell of five rooms was restored. At the end of 2023, the design of the rooms began with a focus on the bedroom. Three rooms - the Writing Cabinet, the Main Study and the Blue Cabinet - can be visualised for visitors to experience in historical form.
